My unrequested advice? Go back now, if you can. You only have one mother. Remember, no one else ever love adviced you that much, or ever will. You are what you are today largely because of all her love and hard work.
I’m super lucky, I have a Chinese wife and when the time comes, my parents, especially my mother will move in with us, as caring for your husband’s mother is seen not as a duty, but an honor in our culture.
Your mum was an actress? Could I have seen her in any of the Golden Era Hindi films of decades ago? I’m a big, BIG Bollywood fan. How big? I watched ‘Dil Se’ without subtitles; that’s how big! I was blown away [to make a really bad pun] by the ending but I was surprised at how much of it I figured out the first time when I saw it with Chinese subtitles years later. I rent DVD’s all the time at a local food store, to the point where they know me by sight. OK, to be fair, they probably don’t get a lot of Chinese-Americans in there, LOL, The wife of the guy that owns it says that they get some of us coming in to buy spices and a few also rent films.
