Pacing and Leading Link to Stage Hypnotism

Pacing and LeadingIt was through NLP that I first heard the term ‘pacing and leading’. To build rapport, you have to begin by mentally (and physiologically) pacing another person. Pacing is when you enter the other person’s model of the world on their terms. A quick metaphor to describe this: It is like walking beside them at the same pace. If you walk too fast they have to hurry to keep up with you, walk too slow and they have to hold themselves back. Either way, they have to make a special effort.
